Blasting Agent

This old style platformer is really what all platformers should be. Blasting Agent is a Duke Nukem 2D clone, but it is entertaining and very challenging, so you won't be disappointed. You are an agent, your goal is to collect money and to get out of the level alive. There are enemies all around you and boss fights from time to time. Exploring the level can be rewarding, because you can find hidden doors. The fact that a level can be finished in more than one way is a big plus. So, don't always follow the signs; they might not lead you to the best exit. The enemies are very diverse and the music suits the game perfectly.

+ many enemies and bosses
+ more than one exit
+ pixelart!

- a bit too hard

Tetraform

In Tetraform you must protect your planet from evil ships. You start with a small, dead planet, being attacked by a few wandering spacecrafts. They have a strange desire to crash into your planet, so they must be destroyed. You do that by smashing them one into another. This is your primary and most useful power: by clicking on two or more ships you make them attract one another and blow up. The resulting explosions are very pretty and they also give life to your planet and make it evolve (that makes sense). There are dozens  of different enemies... At some point in the game you'll have to start using tactics, because some enemies are more powerful than others and randomly smashing them won't make you successful. The planet has some means of protecting itself too: long spikes can grow out of it, or it can produce a nuclear explosion, turning everything around to ashes. This game is very clever, beautiful too look at and really addicting.

+ great graphics and effects
+ bosses
+ diverse enemies

Let's go find El Dorado

This game is short and funny. You control an old carriage pulled by a weird cow (that looks and acts more like a pig). You carry an entire family of Americans who want to find the legendary city of El Dorado. The way to the city of gold is full of steep hills, rivers, Indian towns and civilized cities. Every time your cart turns upside down something bad happens to your passengers. Stopping in villages is also dangerous because the family can catch all sorts of diseases. But, as long as at least one of them is alive when you reach El Dorado, everything is ok. The game has physics, so the carriage can fly past hills if you catch speed, or even fly past your destination...

+ random generated terrain
+ funny... somehow

- some hills are impossible to climb

Obey The Game

This is another game with the blue elephant, just as fun and unusual as the others. The game consists of a set of mini-games whose rules have to be obeyed, or not. At the start of each mini-game you will be told either to obey the rules or not. This is very easy for the first 10 stages, but afterward the game speeds up and you have to react really fast. There are 5 game modes, each of which is unlocked if you pass a certain number of levels in the previous mode.

+ addicting gameplay
+ fast thinking is required

- maybe there should have been more minigames...

Cold Storage

Cold Storage is a game with an old concept, but with very nice graphics. You are a Yeti who was accidentally dropped in a freezer. This place is filled with frozen creatures, ice blocks and poles. You travel by jumping from pole to pole, while rescuing the frozen creatures. As you advance through levels more dangers appear. Bad creatures have to be avoided or killed with inertia and unstable poles last only for a short period. The game has a nice winter atmosphere, perfect for this time of the year.

+ nice graphics
+ cute as any Nitrome game

- few levels

We Want You

Ever wanted to be a soldier? To defend your country ever with the price of your life? In this game you have exactly this opportunity! You are a worthless soldier and you wonder around the battlefield killing everyone else. If you play long enough you'll notice that time goes by - you get statistics of the "past year". There are 10 guns available and you can get them from supply tents or crates. If you start bleeding the first aid tent should fix you right away. However, some guns kill you instantly, and then you become a well-remembered soldier. Enjoy the war!

+ pixelart!
+ procedurally generated platforming fun
+ fun gameplay (you can even get a fat kid to follow you)

- you can't win (except if you count death as winning)
- it gets repetitive after a while

Vector Conflict The Siege

This is a fastpaced and addicting game. You are in control of a bunker and you have to survive until the end of each level. You shoot with your mouse, rotate with [WASD] and release bombs with [THE SPACEBAR]. All is pretty silent at first, but once planes are starting to drop bombs on you and kamikaze tanks come from all directions saving your bunker doesn't look like the easiest thing to do. The game has 3D vector graphics - yes, everything is made out of wireframes.

+ interesting graphics
+ very engaging, nice music too

- could have been more complex

Captain Forever

Captain Forever is a nice sandbox-shooter game. You control a small spacecraft and you have to equip it with spare parts that you get from defeated enemies. Killing your foes is a tricky thing, though. After they are destroyed you can only take the parts of them you didn't shoot, so you have to be careful and plan your attack. The vectorial graphics are really nice and the UI (User Interface) is really original. There is, however a downsides to this game: the ship is difficult to control.

+ nice graphics
+ good gameplay
+ notable UI design

- difficult control scheme
- it is rather hard

Graveyard shift

With Halloween drawing near Nitrome has launched a new game. It's a rail-shooter with zombies, angry plants and other weird monsters. You have a gun to kill them all, and sometimes you have to grand safe passage to lost maidens. There are a few other weapons you can use, but they have limited ammo (yes, the sword has limited ammo, the gun doesn't). The graphics are very good, as usually, but the game might feel repetitive and the levels are a little too long for my taste.

+ very nice graphics

- levels are too long
- gameplay mechanics... where?!

Finwick

Finwick is a well polished action platformer. You are a delivery boy who has to take a package into Fargrown Forest. The graphics are simply wonderful. Everything looks peaceful and filled with details: birds singing and flying in the sky, leaves in the air, small fish in the water... Some levels contain puzzles, especially the ones where you control both Finwick and his friend, Pentella. The only major downside to this game is that it's not entirely free. There are only 26 free levels, you have to pay $5,99 to play more.

+ nice graphics and relaxing sounds
+ accurate movement
+ interesting levels

- costs to play the entire game
- you can't replay a selected level

Toss the turtle

A game made in true Newgrounds style, Toss the turtle is a sort of parody of many old games. The game itself is a basic "shoot the canon" game, but when you stomp Goombas, encounter bombs and angry Digglets it becomes clear that it is much more. You play by shooting Sqiurtle into the air and waiting until it either looses altitude or hits spikey objects. There are a number of upgrades available so that you can torment the turtle even more. There are also many achievements for you to collect them all.
