There have been rummors about an Apple Tablet for quite a while and now it's true. It is called iPad and it's preety impressive for a tablet. It has a 9.7 inch touchscreen, weighs 1.5 pounds and runs a 1GHz Apple "A4" chip. The iPad can run all iPhone apps and it can also be used as a pretty fancy e-book reader. For the moment there is no Flash player, but surely it will be present in the next version.
Nexus One has only been out for a short time now, but almost everyone knows about it. There have been many unboxing videos, but Google has made the best one. It's a short stop motion movie about three curious ninjas who find a mysterious box sitting on the table. they chop in into pieces and play with everything they find inside it. At the end, the only thing still standing is the Nexus. It's a very good animation and a cute and funny commercial.
HTPC is a beautiful PC, made by Design Hara. It is small, stylish and even eco-friendly. The side pannels are handcrafted from special wood and the internal segments are connected through bolts and nuts, so that they can be recycled easier. Its creators claim that it uses three times less power than a normal PC. Its specs aren't bad either: it has an Intel Core2Duo processor, up to 8GB of RAM and a 1TB hard drive.
There's rarely anything new and exciting happening in the world of mouses (the gadgets, not those little pesky animals). When something new does happen, however, it is simply stunning. Take this Cyborg R.A.T mouse for example. It's made by Mad Catz and it looks as frightening and fascinating as it sounds. It's a gaming mouse, its price is a bit high, but I think it's worth every penny. It has more buttons than you can think of, it's ultra customizable and it even comes in a wireless version. Beware, resistance is futile! 
Through the years there have been many weird games and extensions for the Wii. Wiiwaa is by far the strangest of them all. What is it? Well, a game. Sort of... because it also involves a stuffed animal. To play the game you have to stick the Wiimote down Wiiwaa's throat and then move it, hit it, make it fly etc. The game is still in development, but I'm betting it will be a hit. 
Japanese researchers managed to develop the most monstrous robot - a hummingbird. These are usually simple birds, some might even find them cute, but the robotic version is simply ugly. The bot is the same size as a real hummingbird, it has an infrared sensor and it can fly with its four wings. The development goes on until 2011. Possible uses for the robotic bird are: finding people who are trapped inside buildings, spying criminals or operating as probes on Mars(?!). 
I bet at least one of your gadgets or household items breaks down every couple of months. You can just throw them away, but some people, with a more "artistic" side, don't. They use the spare parts to create all sorts of amazing things. Imagine a Mona Lisa made out of a motherboard, which is astonishingly beautiful... or a sneaker made entirely of circuit boards... Old cassettes were not forgotten either - a talented young man makes celebrity portraits of cassette tape and other guy can create creepy, but really interesting skulls out of melted cassettes. All you need is imagination!
If you're a real gamer then you'll definitely want to decorate your Christmas tree with something to remind you of your dear Xbox (or Wii, PS3)... Now you can have tree ornaments that look like game controllers! They are made of nicely cut plastic and they come in various colours. Old consoles were not forgotten: there are also ornaments shaped like N64, Dreamcast, NES, PS2 and Sega Genesis controllers.
The calculator is something that any OS should have. You must know the Windows Calculator and you might have seen the Mac one. Wouldn't it be nice if you could hold them in your pocket? A Korean firm sure thought so - they made real life replicas of the softwares. Too bad they didn't make one for Linux users.
The weird vacuum cleaner Roomba has been a subject for many experiments, of which this is by far the one I like best. A bunch of talented guys turned Roomba into Pac-Man. Another four Roombas are the ghosts and they are playing on a field full of white "dots". Pac-Man is guided through a computer program and when it collects all the white dots you win. It's really nice seeing the Roombas in action.
The clock has been for a long time more than a means of knowing the time - it is a piece of art. A good example for this is "The clock I can't see". It is a round ceramic clock filled with red and green circles. Between the circles some numbers are hidden: 12, 3, 6 and 9. It's quite obvious that the colorblind people can't see the numbers. The idea is nice and hopefully no colorblind person will feel offended.
If you're a music lover and an iPod owner then you'll definitely love this gadget. Wall of Sound, or WOS, is the biggest, meanest iPod speaker ever made. It is 3 feet tall and 4 feet wide, but it costs a lot of money. Another bad news is that they are all sold out. If you want to have your own WOS you'll have to preorder it.
Vodafone New Zealand has an impressive ad. It features 1000 mobile phones that gradually receive text messages and, with their alarm, recreate Tchaikovsky's 1812 overture. There were 2000 text messages sent and each phone had to be carefully set. It took tremendous amount of work, as one of the producers says: "any adjustment you want to do to the phones, you have to do it a thousand times". The final song is still not perfect, but you can definitely hear the music.
Many people get attached to their old cars and won't let them go. Artist Kenny Marshall came up with an alternative to sending your bucket of bolts to the junkyard. Turn it into a piece of art and make it the central piece in your garden. To set an example he made a giant ball out of his 1983 Jeep Grand Wagoneer. The result is impressive.
